About Us
Shady Hazel Farm is a small, family-run farm nestled on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia.
We grow a wide variety of seasonal vegetables and specialty cut flowers for market, wholesale and special events. Throughout the year we open the farm gates to our community through U-pick berries, flowers, and pumpkins, and to gather around the table for seasonal Supper Club dinners—celebrating good food, good company, and the land that brings it all together.
At the heart of our farm are values of good food, thoughtful land stewardship, and building a welcoming place where people like to gather and have a good time.
What We Grow & Our Philosophy
While we are not certified organic, our growing practices follow organic principles whenever possible. We source organic seed, focus on building healthy soils, and prioritize growing methods that support long-term soil health, biodiversity, and sustainability.
Our philosophy is simple: thoughtful stewardship leads to better food, flowers, and experiences. Every crop we plant, every flower we harvest, and every meal we share at our seasonal Supper Club events reflects our commitment to growing responsibly, welcoming our community, and celebrating the rhythms of farm life.
Meet the Farmers
Ian
Ian has always had a deep appreciation for good food and the ingredients that make it exceptional—whether it’s a carefully roasted coffee, well-cured bacon, or a thoughtfully prepared meal. That commitment to quality is reflected in everything we raise and grow at Shady Hazel Farm. He takes great pride in offering our community delicious, ethically raised lamb, pork and beef produced with care, intention, and respect for both the animals and the land.
Sara
Sara has a background in holistic nutrition and sustainable agriculture. Her journey into the world of agriculture began in 2017 when she started beekeeping. Having an apiary amplified the intrinsic connectedness between our food, our ecosystems and ourselves. Farming has become a meaningful and tangible way for her to be able to grow and care for both our land and our community.
Shady Hazel Farm is an absolute treat and gift to the Sunshine Coast. Ian and Sara are passionate about what they do and it shows in their happy animals, the beautiful flowers grown, amazing local, organic produce and the awesome annual Pumpkin Patch they run for the whole community. It's places like Shady Hazel that make the Coast such a special place to live...
